Laura Adler, CSA
Rosalie Joseph Humanitarian Award
Laura Adler was born and raised in New York City. Growing up as the daughter of the late actor and director Jerry Adler, the sister of Alisa (talent agent) and Emily (writer), and the aunt to actor Joe - one could say she was destined to work in another branch in our business of show.
After moving to Los Angeles in 1980, she dabbled in television and film production until she took a job in 1989 as a casting assistant, working for Barbara Claman, Mark Saks and Ted Hann. She had found her home.
After working as an assistant, associate and casting director for sixteen years, in 2005 she became an original member of the steering committee that worked tirelessly to finally bring long-deserved pension and health benefits to the hardworking casting community. THANK YOU TO OUR BELOVED TEAMSTERS!!
In November of 2014 she had the great fortune to be hired by CSA (shout out to Felicia Fasano and Megan McConnell) as their new administrator and spent the next ten years having the honor of serving the incredibly talented casting community. She retired in February of 2024.
Upon reflection of her time with CSA, Laura said, “I am so proud of all the work we have done these past ten years, bringing the art of casting to the forefront and highlighting the crucial role casting plays in our industry. I thank you all for your brilliant work.”
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Laura Adler. Her family will be in attendance at the Los Angeles Artios Awards to accept the award in her honor. Those wishing to support Adler's family may do so through a GoFundMe fundraiser HERE. You may also read a tribute to her life HERE.
